Church Life at St. Nicholas
What's happening here?
In addition to our Sunday services, there are groups within the parish to help build up our life together. These groups provide a time to get to know people and enjoy each other's company.
Junior Church 'THE ARK' Sunday School
The Ark meets every Sunday in term time at 10.00. Children join the service of worship at about 10.40 and are present for the Eucharist. Little children and babies are welcome at every service of worship and parents are made to feel comfortable in bringing their children to church with them. The Ark leader is Melanie Ryan.
Tea Time
Tea time is an informal time for all ages which meets at Lyppard Grange Primary School on the first Sunday of the month at 16:00. During the time there is a shared activity, short service and then tea together.
House Groups
There are currently two groups which meet for fellowship and some study time over a cup of tea or coffee. A weekly House Group meets every Wednesday at 13.45-14.45, hosted by Gina Everingham and Gill Wallace. A book group meets monthly on a Monday night.
The Singing Group
The parish Singing Group consists of piano, and sometimes other instruments, and some voices. The Group contributes to Sunday Worship, particularly with some of the more contemporary hymns.
Social Activities
The parish seeks to have at least one social activity every month. The Parish Magazine has details of events, dates, and times. Some past events include a Wine and Cheese night in the Barn, a Working Day around the church grounds with a BBQ following, a Progressive Dinner - moving from house to house for each different course.
Outreach
The church works with wider community of Warndon Villages, especially through the Barn which is very much a community facility, working with schools, nurseries and other local groups. St. Nicholas supports a number of local and national charities and internationally works with World Vision to support a young girl, Amina Halidou and her family.
Hire of the Barn
The Barn as well as being the home for many church events, is available for hire for parties and other functions. Huw and Julie Jones coordinate its activity.
Baptisms and Weddings
